Badminton is a racket sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two pairs of players (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. The objective of the game is to hit the shuttlecock with your racket so that it passes over the net and lands in your opponent’s half of the court, and to prevent your opponent from doing the same. Points are awarded when the shuttlecock lands in your opponent’s half and cannot be returned properly. The game can be played indoors or outdoors and is popular in many countries, especially in Asia.
