Josh Kelly’s walk on the road back has a new home, as Wasserman Boxing has teamed up with DAZN to broadcast his return to the ring on June 24 against the undefeated Gabriel Corzo in Newcastle.
Kelley (13-1-1, 7 KOs) was overtaken by David Avanesyan two years ago but looked sharp in a 12-round match against Troy Williamson to win the British Championship last December. The win put him in number one. 2 in the WBO rankings, will become zero. 1 after current top contender Bakhram Murtazaliev won the IBF title. Argentinian Corzo (18-0, 3 KOs) is no. 9 with the WBO, but it’s unclear exactly how he got there, as he’s been enamored with trash competitions since the beginning of his career. BoxRec places him at 205th in the rankings, and while I understand that’s not an objective analysis, it’s a terrible view.
